1 Description[edit | edit source]

Author: FRH / EEC (Date: 24.03.2020)

2 Definitions[edit | edit source]

The E+L Web Guider for BOPA- LISIM lines with Waterbath consists of following devices:

  • Pivoting frame (controlled RK4004)
  • Sensor support beam (controlled by RK4004 and RK4008)
  • Ultrasound Edge Sensors (controlled by RK4008)
  • Command Station (Operating panel at the machine)
  • Profibus Interface

By pressing the buttons ,ENTER‘ and ,Up‘ together, you will enter the parameter/device list. In the first page, there are basic functions, where we only use the ‘Show Cannet’. By selecting ‘Show Cannet’ all devices will be listed.

Save Parameters

  • For older devices (XAL+XAN): Show Cannet -> go to Device, which needs to be saved -> Press ‚Help‘- Key -> choose ‚Reset‘ and confirm (Attention: no, it’s not a writing mistake in this description, E+L needs a ‘Reset’ to store the parameters…)
  • For newer devices (XAV, XAO, KUO, ATA): System-Menu -> CanMon -> Save Cannet EEPROM

Restore Factory Default (to preconfigured settings from E+L -> with this settings the system should work in Manual mode, using the E+L DO Operating Panel)

  • Show Cannet -> go to Device, which needs to be restored -> Press ‘Help’- Key -> choose ‘Restore Parameters’ and confirm

3 Communication Settings (ZC4085):[edit | edit source]

(see manual BEA--250859)
  • Config- Modul -> OwnNodeNr -> set DP- address accordingly (2.1)
  • Objekt- Modul -> receive obj. list (2.4.1)
    • rec. object 1 -> 19
  • Objekt-Modul -> transmit obj. list
    • tr. object 1 -> C
    • tr. object 2 -> 18
    • tr. object 3 -> 1A
    • tr. object 4 -> 1B
    • tr. object 5 -> 1C
    • tr. object 6 -> 19

After Communication Settings were done, Save Parameters and Power Off/On the whole unit, then the device should be online in the HW-config

4 Adjustments for RK4004:[edit | edit source]

(see manual BEA--250482)
  • Digital Outputs:
    • X20.4 set to 1 (8.1) (System OK)
  • Digital Inputs:
    • X4.1 set to 0 (8.2) (no usage)
    • X4.4 set to 3 (8.3) (Ref. with speed -)
    • X4.7 set to 14 (8.4) (Auto Key)
    • X20.2 set to 20 (8.5) (Sensor Free Key)
    • X3.2 set to 11 (8.6) (Manual Key)
  • System config:
    • Controller operate set to 1
  • Operatorkey config set to 21 (‘AUTO’ and ‘no edge’ Bits to TRUE)
  • reduce movement speeds
    • RK4004 -> webedge controller -> velocity auto (3mm/s)

5 Description of installation situation[edit | edit source]

At all BOPA-LISIM lines with Waterbath the Left/Right Sensor is exactly opposite to our Machine Left/Right, because the mounting of the system is against our Machine direction. This has to be considered! If this is the case, these values must be converted (EgdCtlOup.Act, EgdPosRit.Act, EgdPosLef.Act, EgdCtlWebOfs.Act and EgdCtlWebOfsXxx.Set) in the SCL (should be done already by EES, but check this very carefully!).

6 Function test[edit | edit source]

  1. Test if movement of positioning drive is possible in manual mode by keys on operation panel
  2. Test that push buttons on BMS commander change mode of web steering unit accordingly
  3. Put a sheet of paper (A3) to the E + L Centerline (align 1 edge of the sheet to the E+L CL, and the top of the sheet must not be placed on the frame, which is moving. Place it on the fixed frame!), press Automatic, the sensors move inwards, and detect the edge. If you place the right edge of the sheet to the CL, the Right sensor must show 0mm, the Left sensor -297mm. (+/1mm tolerance acceptable). If this is not the case, the E + L device wasn’t calibrated correctly from manufacturer itself. This can be corrected -> refer to description ‘center line offset’. This test/adjustment is mandatory, only if performed, continue with next step

  5. Check together with mechanics, that the real machine- centerline and the E+L- centerline fit together. On some lines, the waterbath (E+L)-centerline and machine- centerline didn’t fit, this is not a big issue, it’s just important, that we correct the E + L- centerline then. Determine the offset between the ‘2 centerlines’ and do the step ‘centerline offset’ from next section! Even if you had to do this already at step 3 (but use new reference values for calculation, not default settings).

7 Adaptions that might be needed[edit | edit source]

  • center line offset
RK4008 (Attention: Both components 0.6 and 0.7 need to be edited)
Edit twice parameter 32 (system offset)
e.g.: If you found out, that the real machine- centerline is shifted by -12,5mm to the E+L- Centerline (real centerline is 12,5mm left from the E+L Centerline), you need to shift the centerline of E+L system by +12,5mm (counting direction is according to E+L system) then you have to subtract 12.5mm from the actual value what is adjusted in parameter 32
  • 0.7: -1273,3 -> -1285,8
  • 0.6: +1275,7 -> 1263,2
After editing, press ‘Automatic’ / ‘Threading’ again. And then do the test with A3 paper again.
  • change park position of edge sensors (e.g. if there is an interference with the threading chain)
RK4008 (Attention: Both components 0.6 and 0.7 need to be edited)
Edit twice parameter 31 (center offset) and parameter 32 (system offset)
e.g.: if you want to make the park position 100mm more narrow (shift position of each sensor 50mm inside) then you have to do the following:
  • 0.7: p31 -1151,3 -> -1101,3 / p32 -1285,8 -> 1235,8
  • 0.6: p31 +1150,8 -> +1100,8 / p32 +1263,2 -> +1213,2
Attention: when referencing the edge sensor will still move to the former maximum position, afterwards they will change to the new set position.

If all done, save parameters again!

8 Basic working principle at BOPA- LISIM lines with Waterbath[edit | edit source]

With Oven- Thread Mode (or manually by pressing the Pushbutton ‘Web Steering Automatic Mode’ at +BB3 panel), the Websteering switches automatically to ‘Edge Guide Automatic’. The sensors will start movement, and will find the film- edge. The Controller (Pivoting Frame) will start moving, to bring the film to it’s Setposition (usually CL). At Cutback (or manually by pressing the Pushbutton ‘Web Steering Thread Mode’ at +BB3 panel), the Sensors will move outwards again, but the Pivoting Frame will keep its last position. The pivoting frame only can be moved manually from the E+L Operating panel.

  • Edge Guide Controller Oven Center Position: Difference Value of TDX- Inlet Stations
  • Edge Guide Controller Oven Position Setpoint: set to 0mm, to have no offset to the CL.
