3 Thermo Fischer Check Points[edit | edit source]
Due to more and more problems happen with TCE(used subsupplier TFS), during the TFS commisoning, please check all these points according:
3.1 Reference Position[edit | edit source]
TFS need use Brueckner center line to measure out the Scanner DS mechanical limit, and this value was used for reference position which need be put in PVSS panel as below:
File:Thermo Fischer Reference Position.JPG
3.2 Offsheet and Standardize Position and Zero profile position[edit | edit source]
The Offsheet and standardize position is the same side as Reference position, as for HUC example, it is left side(DS). The important is that it is not only have to be inside of Reference position, also have to be inside of Zero profile position. In other word, Left limit of Zero profile must between reference position and Offsheet positiom, otherwise standardize funtion can not be proper working. See as below:
File:Thermo Fischer Offsheet Zero Profile Positions1.JPG
File:Thermo Fischer Offsheet Zero Profile Positions2.JPG
4 Edge Detection Function[edit | edit source]
When edge detection ON, the Scanner Recevier head have to be at least half out of the Film Edge, detected with no Film(0μm), but must not over the TFS system safety limits(HUC ±4630mm), otherwise will trigger TFS system profile failure. So we should know this firstly:
File:Thermo Fischer Edge Detection Function1.JPG
Before you switch on edge detection, please make sure Speed Range and Slow Edge Speed setting like below panel, it is good for scanner to find the film edge.
File:Thermo Fischer Edge Detection Function2.JPG
So if we know the actual film width out of Tdo, plus little more than 50mm, we can set the right vaule at Edge detection ON limits.
File:Thermo Fischer Edge Detection Function3.JPG
Then after several scans you will see the film actual left and right edge at above panel, accorrding this values plus 50mm, you are sure what you setting before is right. When the Edge Detection OFF, you need be sure that actual Film width must not over the TFS system limits(HUC ±4630mm), and the Scanner head should not move out of film, otherwise thickness will goes 0 μm, then TCE shows wrong profile. In this case it is other way around.
File:Thermo Fischer Edge Detection Function4.JPG
Base on this rule, we can even set the edge detection OFF limits less than actual film edge, depend on the process how much they want to see the edge thickness.

5 Network Setup Ipc 3.9 and older[edit | edit source]
The M1’s ComServer provides two Ethernet Interfaces.
Ethernet Interface Nr. 1 (ETH1) is connected to the machine-network,
Ethernet Interface Nr. 2 (ETH2) is connected to the service-network;
Ethernet Interface 1:
IP: 10.XX.XX.106 (Castfilm 10.XX.XX.105)
Subnet: 255.255.255.0
Ethernet Interface 2:
IP: 172.YYY.YYY.206 (Castfilm 172.YYY.YYY.205)
Subnet: 255.255.255.0
Gateway: Ip address of the router: Template:KomIp190 (IPC 3.9) / Template:KomIp71 (IPC 4.0)
M1-Manager:
Solution Center: Template:Image
6 Network Setup Ipc 4.0[edit | edit source]
Only a connection to the Line Network is needed. A separate ethernet cable to the service network is not used and not necessary anymore.
Network settings are done via Solution Center under "Communication":
IP: 10.XX.YY.106 (Castfilm 10.XX.YY.105)
Subnet: 255.255.255.0
Gateway:10.XX.YY.71
Additionaly Time Synchronization should be activated in order to have proper time stamps in the log files.
In System Time Base adjust the same time zone as on the remote station:
7 Software[edit | edit source]
All lines that come with a remote station have now Bachmann M1-Manager and EPOS preinstalled by BMS. If no Remotestation is delivered, make sure that the software is to be installed either on the FieldPG or the CodLef.
7.1 Bachmann Target Manager[edit | edit source]
This is the communication service. You
Start M1-Target Manager and add a new target:
Name: M1_BmsM1V1
IP: 172.YYY.YYY.206
In the TargetManager click “M-Manager” to open the software.
7.2 Bachmann M1 Manager[edit | edit source]
Installed on the remote station at older lines; will be replaced by the Solution Center.
Working online on the Bachmann PLC. Allows access to the Flashcard.
Check if an online connection can be established (e.g. by updating analog values):
7.3 Solution Center[edit | edit source]
The Solution Center software will replace M1-Manager on the remote stations.
7.4 EPOS visualisation[edit | edit source]
Open EPOS using the “Start EPOS”-Batch file on the desktop. Make sure that EPOS is able to connect to the gauge and updating it’s values:
8 Backup of a M1 Thickness Gauge[edit | edit source]
8.1 With M1-Manager[edit | edit source]
Go online with M1 Manager.
Click on the button Drive View Template:Image to access the FlashCard.
Copy the complete content of cfc0 to your laptop, create a zip-file.
8.2 With Solution Center[edit | edit source]
Open the Solution Center, select the tab FTP below to access the FlashCard. Copy the complete content of cfc0 to your laptop, create a zip-file.
8.3 VSS[edit | edit source]
Check in Visual Source Safe under \\Kom\Tce\_engineering\public\thickness_gauges\TFS.
If you get the latest version of this folder it will be created in your working directory. Copy the zip-file to this folder and add the file in VSS.
8.4 SVN[edit | edit source]
Commit the zipped backup to _engineering\public\thickness_gauges\TFS\.
9 Troubleshooting[edit | edit source]
9.1 Power of the Prometuim source is decreasing[edit | edit source]
After some time the power of the radioctive source is decreasing.
Typical ERROR Messages will be:
45045 (Measuring voltage during standardisation is to low)
45047 (Source activity is no longer sufficient for measurement)
To get back the full measuring power you have to increase gain. In the attached file there is a manual to adjust the gain again.
9.2 Trouble with positioning[edit | edit source]
On some lines we had the problem that the scanner did not reach it's destination position. It always stopped with some mm distance.
In this case check on the micromaster in the TFS-cabinet the parameter P0758. You can increase it up to "5.0" to improve the positioning behaviour.
Another sympton during commissioning is that the scanner does not move at all, although there is no visible fault and all hardware contacts are okay.
In this case reduce the scan speed (in Gauge Setup) to a value below "8" and check if it's working then.
Yet another problem:
Scanner is sent to standardize but does not reach it's standardizing position within 60 Seconds (because Fast Speed is set too low || line width is quite big).
On a 10m-line we had the problem, that when sending to standardize, the process quit with error Position Not Reached. Although we were not even close to Std-Position.
Thermofisher has a 60 seconds timeout to reach the position. If your starting position is far away and your fast (= positioning) speed is slow enough, you will run in this problem.
Therefore the speed must be increased accordingly.
9.3 Communication Protocol Analog Measuringhead[edit | edit source]
Especially for upgrades - when an old analog head is equipped with a new Bachmann M1 control.
- Scanner does not accept Commands from PVSS (like Start/Stop...)
Check in EPOS if Command Telegram receive is active.
If not - activate it and permanently activate it by setting CommandReceiveOnOff to 0 0 1 in ETHERBMS.ini (cfc0 > INI > ETHERBMS.ini).
- Driver Error Logfile with readK_Tel - Messages
The protocol for the new serial head (==kTel) is still activated on TFS side.
Deactivate in ETHERBMS.ini by setting SerialHeadSendOnOff to 0 0 0.
- Analog Value for Measuring Signal is not transmitted (Measuring Voltage on AI-Card Slot8).
ETHERBMS.ini needs to be configured properly.
-Retracting Heads (Hubmatik) Statusbits are not transferred.
ETHERBMS.ini contains wrong Statusbits.
Bits from Class SensorHolderIsotope are correct in this case.
In PVSS > GaugeSetup > Status > You would see "Position undefined" on the Button to move the head up and down.
