Public:OPTO NCDT-1320 Laser Sensor

Template:Infobox bms

Opto NCDT is an Intelligent laser optical distance/displacement measurement sensor.

The optoNCDT 1320 uses the principle of optical triangulation, that is, a visible, modulated point of light is projected onto the target surface. The diffuse part of the reflection of this point of light is displayed depending on distance on a position-resolving element (CMOS) by a receiver optic which is arranged to the optical axis of the laser beam in a defined angle.

A signal processor in the sensor calculates the distance of the point of light on the measuring object to the sensor by means of the output signal of the CMOS elements. The distance value is linearized and output by means of the analog or RS422 interface.

1 Commissioning[edit | edit source]

The sensor comes with factory default settings and is installed accordingly. The sensor variant used here to measure the distance is optoNCDT 1320-50, which has a measuring range of 50mm, starting from 35mm to 85mm. The table below shows the range limitation and their Digital values respectively:

2 Hardware Connection[edit | edit source]

As can be seen from the table above, the red cable from the sensor is for the DC supply voltage and the White cable is the measured Analog output from the sensor which is then fed to Siemens I/O module. The Blue cable is ground, and the Black cable is to turn the laser ON and OFF a must be grounded too to activate the laser.

The electrical connection is as follows:

4 Factory Reset[edit | edit source]

If somehow due to short circuit or due to some other reason the setting of the sensor is changed, and it shows faulty readings. The best solution is to factory reset the sensor. By doing this the sensor goes back to its default settings.

This can be done only within 5 minutes after the supply voltage is given to the sensor, as after that the sensor is locked and no further settings can be modified.

Steps:

  • Supply the voltage to the sensor
  • Keep pressing the “Select” key during the start sequence (i.e. in between the red, yellow and green light turns ON) as shown in the graph above.
  • After approx. 10-15 secs the yellow light will start flashing at the rate of 8Hz, release the “Select” key then.
  • Normal operation starts and the sensor is set to factory default settings.

5 WinCC Panel[edit | edit source]

There is an offset of 35mm as the sensor’s measuring range starts from 35mm. Template:Notice bms Template:Notice bms
