1 Overview[edit | edit source]

Where do we use which model:

NOTE: Take care about the difference Version of each Model. There are models which contain "BKR" which means "Brückner" Version.

BKR Version are cable break safe because the original Fraser Bars (now old one) are not cable break safe.
OLD: Alarm/Warning will appear at HIGH Signal, so if there is a cable broken our system will not recognice.
NEW: Alarm/Warning will appear at LOW Signal, so the Bar send us always 24V like at normal NC sensors.
If there is an alarm or warning the voltage will go to 0, same like cable break. So we get alarm in WinCC!

Here is the drawing for the first bar. The other bars are connected identical!

2.3 E3430-A-2000, NEOS 30-A Automatic Range control OLD[edit | edit source]

NOTE: The New lines will have the NEW Version XIFOS. Also if customer order new one for the NEOS 30, he will get the XIFOS. So NEOS 30 running out. These bars have an additional plug for the analog setpoint to control the range!

At the bar there is an green LED, which indicates with the blinking speed the range. Faster blinking = higher setpoint = more range

In WinCC you need to adjust the maximum distance from the Empty Core to the NEOS30 Bars. The software will set the correct output for the actual distance later with the rising diameter of the core.

2.4 E3633-A-2000, XIFOS X-33 Intelligent control NEW[edit | edit source]

These bars are the NEW Version from the NEOS 30. This bar is fully compatible with the NEOS 30. The XIFOS don't have the 4-20mA / Analog Signal anymore. They adjust the range automatically. So if you exchange the NEOS 30 with the XIFOS, then you don't need to connect this analog signal anymore. The mechanical mounting points are the same like before.

Adjustment:

Intelligent Mode

Manual Mode or intelligent Mode

  1. Switch on the intelligent Mode with the Mode Switch (see picture below)

#Intelligent Range:

There are 4 different ranges for the bar:

  1. 250-500mm
  2. 350-750mm
  3. 500-1000mm
  4. 750-1500mm

On the bar you have to adjust the maximum distance from the empty Core to the XIFOS Bars. If the core get bigger, the distance to the XIFOS will be less

File:Fraser winding roll discharging bar XIFOS Overview.jpg

Here is just one example. As always you have to measure the distance between Fraser and empty/full core. The adjusted range should be inside the measured distance.

2.6 IONFIX Compact GEN for Edge Charge[edit | edit source]

Very important are the three bridges directly in the plug. These are used for auto start. So if the Power (+24V) for the Edge charge unit is active, the device will switch on automatically the charging bars

Take care: FAULT ON HIGH SIGNAL! Normally there is 0V and the only way to test the signal is, to create some overcurrent limit. Then you will get an high flag to see if the input is working!

4.2 IONFIX Compact GEN[edit | edit source]

File:Operating IONFIX Compact GEN.PNG

Switching the Generator on:

To power up the generator, put the main power switch on the front panel into the ‘ON’ position.

Setting output voltage

When the HV output is not enabled, the generator voltage and current limit values are shown on the

display, along with ‘SP’ to indicate that these are setpoint values.

To adjust the generator output voltage setpoint, use the ‘Voltage +’ and ‘Voltage –‘ buttons

Setting current limit

At 30 kV, a maximum of 0.66 mA is available.

To adjust the current limit, use the ‘Current –’ and ‘Current +’ to change the setpoint value.

Switching high voltage on/off

To enable the high voltage output of the generator, press the ‘RUN/STOP’ button. The ‘HV’ indicator LED

will illuminate to signal that the High Voltage output is active, and ‘SP’ will be replaced with ‘OP’ on the LCD

6 Cleaning Information[edit | edit source]

There are to digital inputs from each Fraser Bar.

  • Alarm is the run feedback of the bar and should be on normally at the beginning
  • Warning appear, if you need to clean the bar. The bar still works, but after a long time no cleaning, the bar will change into alarm because it stops working, if there is to much dirt!

The bars get dirty for various reasons: Material MEX, COEX, Temperatures, Line Speed, Corona ON/OFF, Coater ON/OFF, Material quality, maschine pollution, and so on!

Please check the cleaning video of Fraser:

MS-Stream: [Cleaning Video]

Youtube: [Cleaning Video]

To clean them is the most time very hard because of the small pins which are comeing out!

  • Use IPA electronic cleaner or the Cleaning fluid from Fraser itself.
  • Use a tooth brush / shoe brush to clean each pin by pin
  • measure the resistance between the pins and this should be above several MOhm!

File:Fraser Cleaning Brush.png

File:Fraser Cleaning1.jpg

File:Fraser Cleaning3.jpg

File:Fraser Cleaning4.jpg

File:Fraser Cleaning2.jpg

  • To clean the top bars it's a little bit difficult because they are upside down mounted.
    • The best way is to put a little bit of the fluid (2-3mm) into a small flat plastic box like 20cm x 10cm. Then you can dip the brush into it in front of the fraser bar.
    • Take it out and start cleaning the first 50-100cm. Again, dipping inside and then cleaning the fraser bar with the brush.
