3 OB alert without load supply[edit | edit source]

The CPX profibus module is supplied two times with 24VDC.

One is the normal supply for the electronics, the other is the load suppy and switched on/off by a safety contactor.

When the load supply is switched off, the error LED on the CPX signals a fault and additionally we will get an OB alert.

To suppress the OB alert change the device properties of the CPX module in the HW config:

Set the parameter Filter alarm Vout/Vven to active.

The error LED will still turn red, but we will get no OB alert.

4 Addressing[edit | edit source]

In case that there are some addresses wrong for the output valves, here is an example about the address assignment internal of the festo modules. Sometimes there are 1 or 2 bits wrong for the outputs. This happened because of the different module types.

Festo offers these module types (bold are the must used modules):

  • A: concatenation plate for the size 18 mm (02), 2 valve places, 4 Addresses
  • B: concatenation plate for the size 26 mm (01), 2 valve places, 4 Addresses
  • C: concatenation plate for the size 42 mm (1), 1 valve place, 2 Addresses
  • D: concatenation plate for the size 52 mm (2), 1 valve place, 2 Addresses
  • E: concatenation plate for the size 18 mm (02), 2 valve places, 2 Addresses
  • F: concatenation plate for the size 26 mm (01), 2 valve places, 2 Addresses
  • G: concatenation plate for the size 42 mm (1), 1 valve place, 1 Address
  • H: concatenation plate for the size 52 mm (2), 1 valve place, 1 Address
  • L: concatenation plate for the size 26 mm (01), 2 valve places, 4 Addresses, with 2 blanking plugs at connection 4, for vacuum block
  • M: concatenation plate for the size 65 mm (3), 1 valve place, 2 Addresses
  • N: concatenation plate for the size 65 mm (3), 1 valve place, 1 Address
  • U: supply plate, no address
  • L: Leer-->empty place, spare

As you can see above, not every module have only one address, sometimes 1 module has 2 Addresses. This is used at valves with 2 outputs. For example work and park position can be set with different bits. But if you use an module with 2 Addresses and you connect a valves which only uses 1 Address, the second Address is also occupied. So if you want to count the valve bit, you need the introduction of the pneumatic cabinet (most time inside the cabinet).

At one page you find this:

BASIS Ventilinselcode: 50E-F13GEQS-S+N* 45P-N-V-KSMX-4FUFCCUCFFBB-OZFWULOZFWUOZFWULOZFWUOZFWUOZFWUOZFWUOLOO3LOO3L

The first part are the order code and the basic configuration:

50E-F13GEQS-S+N*45P-N-V-KSMX

The important part is this code:

4FUFCCUCFFBB

4*F Module, U module, F module, C module,...

4*2 Addresses (2 places), supply plate, 2 Addresses (2 places), 2 Addresses (1place),...

With this system you can count the Bits

Another example how to figure out the code and addressing

Coater Standard Festo cabinet.

CPX terminal looks like this:

Configuration number:

I search for the festo online configurator e.g. https://www.festo.com/de/en/p/valve-terminal-vtsa-with-cpx-terminal-id_VI44_CPX/?siteUid=fox_de&siteName=Festo+DE

Here you can directly enter this configuration number in the lines for identifier1 and identifier2:

This directly gets us the actual configuration what BMS has ordered:

What we can see here is that always type B baseplates are used.

These offer space for two valves and reserve four BIT addressspace.

So addressing in this case would always look like this:
