Public:Create and Restore Hyper-V Backups

The Hyper-V Manager is installed on the KomHstAdm Server. The following machines are running on it:

• KomGstAdm
• KomRmt
• Operator Stations (on lines with Thin Clients)

1 Creating a Virtual Machine Backup

In the Hyper-V Manager choose the station to backup and klick on 'Export'. Follow the assistant and choose D:\HyperV_Backups\KomXXX for the location to save. After the backup is done rename the folder according the date (e.g. D:\HyperV_Backups\ArcRmt\20160210). Don't forget to copy the backup to the external HDD.

2 Restore a Virtual Machine Backup

Turn off the machine you want to backup and delete it. Choose 'Import Virtual Disk' in the right menu and follow the assistant. For the location choose the folder with the date (e.g. D:\HyperV_Backups\ArcRmt\20160210) otherwise the assistant will not find any backup. You can choose the existing unique ID as the backup has been deleted before.
