1 Before switching on the Control Voltage[edit | edit source]

Disconnect at the Backside of the PNC the SubD 15Pol Connector before switching on the Control Voltage

The I/Os at the PNC are very sensitive to overvoltage or short circuit.

2 Electrical commissioning[edit | edit source]

  • Check with your Multimeter at the SubD Plug that the Signals and connections is right
Pin Function Notes
1 output of current monitor 0...In corresponds to 0...10V (Ri = 4,7kΩ )
2 output of voltage monitor 0...Un corresponds to 0...10V (Ri = 4,7kΩ )
3 common 0V-point connected with earth
4 output of reference voltage +10.00 V (max. 2 mA)
5 slider of current potentiometer output
6 slider of voltage potentiometer (optional) output
7 set value of current input 0...10V corresp. to 0...In (Ri>100k? )
8 set value of voltage input 0...10V corresp. to 0...Un (Ri>100k? )
9 - 10 input “STANDBY EXTERN“ potential-free

contact, closed = Off

11 - 12 Short Cuircuit detection potential-free

contact, closed = No Short circuit

13 DGND digital ground
14 N.C.
15 N.C.
  • Plug in the SubD
  • Check the 230V connection at the bottom of the cabinet
  • Check the grounding of the whole pinning system -> Pinning System
  • Switch on the 230V Fuse in the cabinet and close the cabinet

3 Function Test[edit | edit source]

  • Switch off the Generator at the Cabinet front side
  • Turn both potentiometers to 0 and switch to interal
  • Switch to negative Voltage Template:Image
  • Set the pinning system at the PVSS to Service Mode
  • Move the Chill Roll to work position
  • Install a wire/band in the Pinning system
  • Close both hoods and move the Pinning to Work position
  • The Generator Power supply will be switched on automatically. If not, check the interlocks in PVSS
  • Check HV to 10kV
    • Switch on the PNC
    • Switch on the HV (red button)
    • Increase the HV current to about 1.0 at the potentiometer
    • Increase the Voltage slowly to 10kV
  • Check the Wire heating Template:Image
    • Increase the Voltage of the LNG to 10V
    • Check that you get a current. Otherwise one of the HV Plugs have no connection
