The Tension Electronics PFEA111/112 is used to scale and sum up the signal of two load cells. The Output is communicated directly via PROFIBUS to the S7.

4 PVSS Parameters / Load Cell Test[edit | edit source]

Tension Belt

In PVSS the FactorMul for the tension value is given by the e-specification and is normally preset at BMS during software generation. There is no need to change this value (typical value is for example 1.41). Below you see the calculation!

Check the parameterization and correct function of the load cells by using a tension belt with a known weight attached: (min 10% of nominal load cell rating):

  • Fix the belt and thread it in film direction at center line position
  • Attach the weight at the end and drop it to eliminate the belt's friction (be sure that the belt is fixed well enough!)

Template:Notice bms If the test's result is not satisfying, repeat the procedure for left and right side. The values should be (nearly) the same otherwise check the respective load cell's connection.

Depending on the firmware of the ABB amplifier, the raw value transferred via Profibus is either the full value shown on the ABB display or only a quarter of it.

So - have a look at the display and then compare to the ActRaw-Value in PVSS. If they are the same, you dont need to change anything else. If the ActRaw-Value is only a quarter of the value on the ABB display, change the FacDiv from 1 to 0.25 (meaning we mutliply by four). The Factors are hardcoded in the software and can't be changed directly in the PVSS parameter panel.
