1 Configuration[edit | edit source]

1.1 Serial Connection[edit | edit source]

File:Vacon NCLoad Message NoReco.png
  • Connect the serial adapter (remove operator panel at the door)
For extension you can use a USB extension or a 1to1 serial cabel (not crossed)
  • Open NCLoad, set Baudrate to 57600
  • Connect the serial cable otherwise you will not be able to select the application (device version is checked, of the connected device) if the device is not recognized correctly you will get the following fault message:

1.2 Loading the system software[edit | edit source]

  • Use latest system software from latest patch for Vacon drives
  • Change to System Program and Select the System Software
File:Vacon NCLoad Select SystemSoftware.png
File:Vacon NCLoad Message DriveStartWarning.png
  • The Loading take about 5-7 minutes!

1.3 Loading the application[edit | edit source]

Copy the current application (f.e. APGEW024V117.vcn) to:
C:\NCEngine\Applications\Brueckner Or create the directory if it does not exist.

1.3.1 Preparation for OPT-E9[edit | edit source]

Change communication protocol from Modbus to Profinet at the keypad panel.

1.4 Set the IP-address OPT-E9[edit | edit source]

Starting form approx. June 2016 we are using the OPT-E9. This card can easily be recognized by 2 ports. You can use name assignement like with a Sinamics CU.

  • open HW-configuration
  • mark the Profinet master system
  • PLC => Ethernet => Verify Device Name
  • check list / press button assign name
  • select the correct name / select the device with type OPTE9 if you have more compare MAC address
  • hit button assign name

now you should see in the verify list a green check mark, if not restart control unit of Vacon.

1.5 obsolete: Set the IP-address OPT-CP (up to approx. June 2016)[edit | edit source]

  • Look, that you are connected into the Line-Network!
  • Note the MAC address of the OPT-CP card. There is a sticker on the network socket:
File:Vacon OptCP Card.jpg
  • Open NCIPConfig and select Configuration --> Scan
Template:Notice bms
File:Vacon NcIpConfig Scan Menu.png
  • The Scan result should look somehow like the following picture:
File:Vacon NcIpConfig Configuration.png
  • Check if the if latest version is installed on option card (e.g. Software: 10530.7)
A latest version is store at: e.g. Template:PathUncPublicdrives\Vacon\Option\OPTCP_105030V006.vcn
If not, update the option card software (see capter OPTCP Profinet card update (Option Card) )
  • Change fields according to your needs and execute Configuration/Configure.
Node Mac IP SubnetMask Gateway ...
nxc272m1se11a010 xx xx xx xx xx 10.XX.YY.63 255.255.255.0 10.XX.YY.190
Same name like in the Hardwareconfig. Is given IP from Hardwareconfig always Firewall IP

Template:Notice bms

XXYY = Kom number
  • Make sure that the checkbox in front of Node name is checked and press “Configure”
  • Confirm the following message box with Yes:
File:Vacon NcIpConfig SendConfig.png
If you trigger an other scan the data should appear again as entered. The information is stored in a remanent memory.
  • Power off/on the option card one time after configuration is done.
  • Slave should appear in hardware configuration of S7 as present, and there should be a respond if you ping the IP-address.

1.6 Parameter Download[edit | edit source]

Open NCDrive and set the online interface to TCP/IP if not already selected:

File:Vacon NCDrive Options.png

File:Vacon NCDrive Communication Setting.png

With some system software there might be problems: Check if you can see on the small Vacon operator panel (Where you connect normaly with the serial cable) of the drive a “startup wizard”. Exit this wizard, otherwise there might be connection problems --> Press up (don't press enter).

Check again:

  • Switch off the 24V with F3
  • Switch on again
  • On the display is written "startup wizard, press enter"
  • press any other button as enter

Otherwise connection should be fine.

Select the active drive:

Press “Add IP address to list”. Repeate this procedure for every drive. Mark one drive in the list “Drives:” on the right hand side you will see some “Drive Details:” if the drive is recognized correctly. Press the button “Set Active Drive” and the system turns bold. You will see the address in the lower left corner of NCDrive window (this is the selected communication partner).

File:Vacon NCDrive AddDriveIp.png

On the left bottom of NCDrive the IP address of the current active drive is indicated.

File:Vacon NCDrive ActiveIp.png

Copy the application to the directory if not done already: (normally done at Section before) C:\NCEngine\Applications\Brueckner Or create the directory if it does not exist. The application is located at: Template:PathUncPublicdrives\Vacon\Application

If the offline application file is not found it takes a few minutes because the application will be generated (this is not recommended, you will loose some symbolic information):

File:Vacon NCDrive GenerateApp.png

If the connection is established the parameters will be uploaded and the parameter list will show up.

1.6.1 First Time Commissioning[edit | edit source]

Now you need to download the standard parameters to the drive therefore select File/Open.

Parameters are located in Template:PathUncPrivatedrives\Vacon\Parameters\standard

  • standard_Vxxx_OL_cabinet_unit_no_hardware: use this for most likely water cooled units, the are delivered from Vacon without hardware, normally with an OPT-AF
  • standard_Vxxx_OL_large_drive_with_hardware: use this if in the Vacon switchboard are motorized ABB switches controlled by Vacon
  • standard_Vxxx_OL_large_drive_with_hardware_690V: use this if in the Vacon switchboard are motorized ABB switches controlled by Vacon and 690V power supply

Downloading the standard parameter set by pressing the download button of the user set

File:Vacon NCDrive UserSet.png

And you will see a popup “Downloading parameters. Please wait!”

File:Vacon NCDrive Download Progress.png

The download should be reported as successful:

File:Vacon NCDrive Download Done.png

If you see “copy parameters” in display refuse with “no” (arrow left key)

There are parameters that can not be included into the *.ust this parameters must be set manually:

   P6.3.4 Autom. BackUp 1 / No
   P6.5.3 Startup wizard 0 / No

1.6.2 After replacing the Control Unit[edit | edit source]

(not needed at the first commissioning)

Parameter Backup islocated in Template:PathUncPublicdrives\Vacon\Parameters

Open this file via NcDrive Software and download the parameters.
