1 Clutch Slip Monitoring for Coperion Twinscrew Extruder[edit | edit source]

1.1 Connection[edit | edit source]

  • Make sure that the proximity switch sensor is connected at terminals 1 (+24VDC) /3 (Signal)
  • We use relay output 1 on terminals 10 / 11 / 12

There we take the NO (normally open) signal which is connected on 10 (+24VDC bridged from terminal 16) and 11

1.2 Settings[edit | edit source]

  • To enter the main menu press Esc and OK together. To quit the menu or go back to main menu press Esc

To change a parameter press or and OK to confirm

  • Check following parameter and change them as following
Unit: rpm
Input → Pulses per revolution: 2 pulses (check on the coupling between motor and gearbox, see picture below)
Output → Relay 1 → Trip Point: i.e. 4.944 rpm (set as extruder gear box ratio, that means that under 1rpm at the screw the clutch fault will be triggered)

Note: The sensor works normaly with Hz, so only steps in 0,001 Hz posible, we enter the trip point in rpm, means we have steps in 0,030 rpm, recheck entered value again, to be sure it is above the gearbox ratio!!

→ Hysteresis: 0.990 rpm
