Micro Epsilon ILR 1181

Template:Infobox bms

The Distance Sensor is already setup by the manufacturer as follows:
Distance 25m==RB -> 4mA (Silo Level 0m)
Distance 0m ==RE -> 20mA (Silo Level 25m)

1 Hardware Connection[edit | edit source]

Template:Image
The RS422 Data Lines are for Service purpose connected for each Sensor in the Cabinet near the Line.

2 Short instruction for parametration (ONLY in case the parameters were not or wrong setted by manufacturer)[edit | edit source]

  • Install the driver for the RS422 converter (usually Windows 10 has it by default)
  • The RS422 converter will show up in the Windows Device manager as COM Port
  • Connect the VD884-Module to the RS422-USB Adapter and to the ILR1181 as follows: T/R+ -> WH ; T/R- -> BN ; RXD+ -> PK ; RXD- -> GY ;

File:ILR Anschluss.png

  • Check the Sensor Manual carefully before you modify anything in the Sensor
  • Establish a Putty serial connection to the Sensor Settings: COM-Port, 9600Baud, 8 Data bits, No Parity, 1 Stop bit, Flowcontrol XON/XOFF

  • To check the connection press ID [ENTER] for all Parameters/Settings

3 List of Parameters/Settings[edit | edit source]

to change/set a Parameter enter the parameter name and value, press [Enter]
example: RB25000[Enter]

  • ID = show all Parameters/Settings

  • DM = meassure distance on a single shot
  • TP = Queries inner temperature
  • SA = Queries / sets floating average value(1...20)
  • SD = Queries / sets output format (dec/hex)
  • ST = Queries / sets time to measure (0...25)
  • SF = Queries / sets scale factor
  • SE = Queries / setserror mode(0,1,2)
  • AC = Queries / sets alarm center
  • AH = Queries / sets alarm hyteresis
  • AW = Queries / sets alarm width
  • RB = Queries / sets beginning of range (4mA)
  • RE = Queries / sets end of range(20mA)
  • RM = Queries / sets removal of measured value
  • TD = Queries / sets trigger delay
  • TM = Queries / sets trigger mode
  • BR = Queries / sets baud rate
  • AS = Queries / sets autostart
  • OF = Queries / sets sets offset
  • SO = Queries / sets distance as offset
  • PA = Queries / sets Displays all parameter values
  • PR = Queries / sets Resets all parameter to standard values

  • make sure all Parameters are setted as followed. to check insert PA:

4 Error Code 15[edit | edit source]

If you have repeating measuring errors, go online with the serial interface.

Error Code 15 means that the measuring cycle is disturbed (to weak reflections). In this case you can increase the measuring time.

Enter: ST25 (this sets the measuring time to 25 seconds).

5 Troubleshooting[edit | edit source]

5.1 Bad serial connection[edit | edit source]

In Case you see a picture like this while serial connection:

  • Template:Image
  • make sure the shield wire is connected well through from the cabinet to the ILM Sensor, as speacially in the sensor connection box.

5.2 Sensor displays negative values permanently[edit | edit source]

Go online on the sensor and check the range begin (RB) and range end (RE).

Sensors should be pre-parametrized to give us 4mA at 25meters and 20mA at 0 meters. This is the distance measured by the sensor - to make this clear again:

If the sensor measures 0meters it means that the silo is completely full.

Depending on the scaling factor [SF] [RB] and [RE] need to be set differently:

If [SF]=1 then [RB]=25, [RE]=0

If [SF]=1000 then [RB]=25000, [RE]=100

(this is 100mm before the lense...makes no difference if we scale to 0 or 100mm).
