The 40B96 is a Universal Pressure or Temperature Input Indicator with single or dual configurable alarms, as well as optional linear retransmission of displayed Process Variable. At BMS this device is used as meltpressure sensor amlifier and indicator.

1 Sensor Types[edit | edit source]

Used sensor types:

  • DYNA-4-3.5C-15/46 is electrical similar to
    MDA422-1/2-3.5C-15/46
    MDA422-1/2-3.5C-23/46
  • DYNA-4-3.5C-15/46-GC8 (with safety maximum pressure output) is electrical similar to
    MDA422-1/2-3.5C-15/46-GC8
    MDA422-1/2-3.5C-23/46-GC8

3 Operations[edit | edit source]

File:Gefran40B-96 Explanation Operating Panel.jpg

Scrolling through Menu and Parameters

Press "F" three seconds to step trough the Menu. Press "F" only short to step through the Parameters.

Changing Parameter Value

Use ∇ and Δ to increment and decrement the parameter value. It is not necessary to safe the changed values if you step to an other Parameter this is done automatic. The display switches between the Name of the Parameter and the value.

4 Comissioning/Configuration[edit | edit source]

5 Calibration of the sensor[edit | edit source]

After the configuration is complete you can calibrate the unit to 0 if no pressure is present (and for the Extrution Area the heaters at production temperature).
For this you can use the User callibration, press Δ 3 sec an enter the menu U.C.

  • Set the value to 4 (calibrate a strain-gauge with symmetrical polarization) and press "F"
  • if you see "F.1" in the display wait 5 sec and press "F"
  • now you should see "F.2" and 280.0 this has to be 80% of the scale of the sensor in this case 350.0bar scale
  • if the scale is correct wait 5 sec and press "F"
  • "F.3" is now displayed wait 5 sec and press "F" again

6 Calibration of the analog output[edit | edit source]

After calibrating the sensor you will get to the user calibration menu (U.C). Calibrate the analogue output to 4-20mA:

  • Set the value to 1 press "F";
  • use a multimeter to measure the current of the analog output (must have!)
  • Display will show now CL (minimum calibration). Use the up/down button to adjust the current to 4mA. Make sure that the value in pvss is 0.0 bar
  • Press "F" for calibrating CH (maximum calibration) and adjust the current to 20mA. Make sure that the value in pvss is 350.0 bar.
  • Press "F" again for confirmation
