1.2 Assign Interface[edit | edit source]

To establish a route from Ethernet to Profibus, you need to assign a network adapter. You need to do this to access for example PosmoA drives or Micromasters.

1.4.1 Settings in SCL[edit | edit source]

Open any random SCL file Go to Options --> Customize

Make the settings according to the pictures below.

2 Assign PLC ip-address over MAC-adress[edit | edit source]

For an empty or new PLC you have to download the PLC-Program the first time and you have to assign the ip-address to the PLC, that you are able to communicate with it.

Attention: On site please connect directly your PC to the ethernet Port of the PLC because when you search the mac-adress over the Firewall, you won't find anything (blocked). Give your PC a fix ip-adress in the PLC's IP range. For example: StrPlc IP is 172.31.52.3 and if you want to check the Connection, after you have assign the address, your PC need this ip-adress: 172.31.XXX.XXX with Subnetmask 255.255.0.0!

First open the Simatic Manager with the project. Click on PLC/Edit Ethernet Node. When the window is open, click on the "Browse" button.

Edit Ethernet Node

In this window now you see only one device because you are directly connected to the PLC. Anyway compare the MAC-adress from the PC with the printed one on the PLC. Select the device and click OK.

After this you have filled the actual MAC-adress. Then you have to set the IP-adress and the Subnet mask in the ip configuration! For example 172.31.52.3 (depending on the position of the PLC - Ext, Str, Win or Sil). Subnet mask is 255.255.0.0!

At the end you have to Assign the device Name! The Device Name is Kom.MainPlc-30. For example Sfa.MainPlc-30. You find the Device Name also in the Hardware config. (see the picture after next)

3 First download of PLC Program[edit | edit source]

Before downloading first time the complete program make sure that PLC assignment is fine (e.g. with a Ping).

3.1 Download of the Hardwareconfig[edit | edit source]

Open the Hardwareconfig. Save and compile it (A) then download (B) it by clicking on the following button:

File:Downloadhw.jpg
Compile- and Downloadbutton

The system will take several minutes after the download until it is working fine again.

3.2 Safety Program[edit | edit source]

If you download the PLC first time you can include also the standard blocks and the System Data Blocks.

Template:Notice bms

Another way would be to download the safety without the standard and the system data blocks. These ones you can download afterwards from the blocks. Choose all DB's, FB's FC's, OB's, SFC's and UDT's with a symbolic name.

File:Downloadsystem datablocks.jpg
Download system and data blocks separately

Click PLC > Download. Do not include in this download the yellow marked DB's, FC's,...

4 Backup[edit | edit source]

Backup Simatic Manager

5 Alternative Way of Downloading[edit | edit source]

If you want to delete all blocks without using a prommer perform the following steps:

This Procedure also performs as the Reset to factory Settings/Defaults

  1. Put the CPU into STOP mode
  2. Make sure that the IP Address is set up right (Check with PING)
  3. Select the desired CPU, open the PLC menu and click on the Save to Memory Card... entry
  4. Deselect the Checkbox Current Project
  5. Start the download by clicking on the OK button

This way is also usefull for downloading a project without safety elements to a CPU which has (already) safety blocks on it.

6 Licence sharing[edit | edit source]

For using the licence of the Remote Station on the Field PG Template:Notice bms

  • First, transfer licenses from the USB sticks to the Remote station
  • open the Automation Licence Manager
  • connect to the station where the licences are installed:

File:Sim mng lic 1.jpg

  • search for the station in the network:

File:Sim mng lic 2.jpg

  • Activate both checkboxes:

File:Sim mng lic 3.jpg

  • now you are connected to the other station with the active licences:

File:Sim mng lic 4.jpg

  • Finally just check if the correct station is in the search list:

File:Sim mng lic 5.jpg

  • the remote station needs to be the first in the search list:

The Simatic Manager will take now the licence of the remote station automatically.

7 Troubleshooting[edit | edit source]

7.1 download in this modul state not possible[edit | edit source]

When you click on Assign Device Name and you get the message "download in this modul state not possible" or "Download in diesem Baugruppenzustand nicht möglich", then the PLC have already a programm on it. I know, you don't download anything at the moment, but the plc needs to set to factory Settings.

select the CPU in the Simatic Manager -->right click-->PLC-->Clear/Reset After this you are able to assign the Device Name

File:Clear-Reset.png
Clear-Reset

7.2 No messages during download[edit | edit source]

Normally you will get system messages during download of the safety program like:

"Do you want to include the standard blocks located in the block folder in this download?"

Template:Image

If you have selected the checkbox "Do not display this message again" you will never be asked again.

Template:Notice bms

Anyway you should not load the standard blocks, expect you know exactly what you are doing.

To download the starndard blocks means, that it will be all parameter in PVSS set to 0!

To activate the messages again, go to customize > general and activate the system messages again.
