1 Preparation[edit | edit source]

1.1 Basic Information[edit | edit source]

Brabender Vibrating Tray Loss-in-Weight Feeder
flowing grained ingredients (pellets, lumpy media, etc.)
Brabender system components:
  • ISC-CM plus: Control Unit
  • Congrav OP: Operating Unit
  • Smart Service: Operating Software for Notebook

Feeder parameter can be adjust with Congrav OP touchscreen panel and Smart Service.

1.2 Hardware settings[edit | edit source]

 Take a Notebook and connect the delivered adapter between your Notebook and ISC-CM plus module

In the picture below you can see the adapter with the related e-drawing.

  • Number 1: USB-to-Serial-Adapter
    • Universal USB-to-Serial-Adapter
    • Brabender ICP-COM USB-to-Serial-Adapter
  • Number 2: Serial-to-Fieldbus-Cabel
    • WH/BU connect between 2 Data- to 18 Fieldbus
    • BU/WH connect between 1 Data+ to 19 Fielbus

2.1 Installation[edit | edit source]

2.1.1 Version 4.6[edit | edit source]

Take a Notebook, eg. Cae and install the Software: Smart Service_Setup_4610.exe

File path: bms_ee_sw:\SOFTWARE\Brabender\Smart Service\Smart Service_Setup_4610.exe

 License Key: 6152

For using Brabender Serial Adapter you have to install the following driver:

2.1.2 Version 6.3.2.0[edit | edit source]

This Version of "Smart Service" is available trough "DSM-Software-Shop"

During Installation you will have to enter the 4-Digit Code - This is shown in the Information for the module in Software Shop.

2.2 Settings[edit | edit source]

2.2.1 Serial Connection[edit | edit source]

Launch the Software Smart Service and use the following settings:

  • Select Tab Options
    • Controller: ISC-CM plus
    • Software: HGC
    • Protocol: BT-Fieldbus
    • Baudrate: 38400
    • Unit: kg
    • Language: English
    • Port: obtain from Windows Device Manager
 The adapter will be listed as USB Serial Port

2.2.2 Ethernet Connection (Modbus TCP)[edit | edit source]

Launch the Software Smart Service and use the following settings:

  • Select Tab Options
    • Controller: Congrav (BT Fieldbus)
    • Software: HGC
    • Protocol: Ethernet Open Modbus TCP
    • Baudrate: 38400
    • Unit: kg
    • Language: English
    • Go To BT Ethernet Configuration
    • Tick the correct ammount of Feeders and enter their IP Adresses to the corresponding lines
    • To get access to all parameters, tick the box "Modbus TCP extension"
    • Click connect to establish the connection

2.3 Fieldbus menu[edit | edit source]

  • Select Tab Options
    • Select BT-Fieldbus configuration
      • Select Tab Scan all and auto select

 After scanning, it will show you the active feeder (3) like in the picture below!

2.4 ISC-CM menu[edit | edit source]

  • Select Tab Feeder parameter
    • use the arrow keys to select the active Feeder Number
      • Select Tab ISC-CM, CB, CBS plus
  • Host computer protocol: ProfiNet
  • Busmode: 1
  • Variant: V2
  • Adress ProfiNet and IP-Settings: obtain from HWConfig
 For eg. In the following picture the active feeder is Number 3

3 Checkup[edit | edit source]

3.1 Load cell[edit | edit source]

  • Make sure transportation locks are removed and there is no mechanic influence.
  • Set Lever arm factor (P15) accordingly:

If there is no weight indicated, check loadcell wiring.

3.1.1 Load cell tare[edit | edit source]

  • Make sure dosing unit is empty, transportation locks are removed and there is no mechanic influence.
  • Click Auto Tare.

3.1.2 Refill[edit | edit source]

  • Refill hopper and confirm proper working flap.

3.1.3 Discharge[edit | edit source]

  • Activate DI -Discharge option to verify vibration unit.
  • Check mixer turning direction.

3.1.4 Maximum Output[edit | edit source]

  • Make sure that vibration tray is filled with resin. If not, fill up with Discharge option.
  • Determine maximum output with CM - Checking max. output function.

  • Dosing unit starts feeding and measures outputs at low and high vibration speed.

3.2 Calibration Parameter[edit | edit source]

  • Confirm Hopper volume (P16).
  • Set Maximal refill time (P21) to 15.0, to detect empty hopper faster.

3.3 Product Parameter[edit | edit source]

  • The parameter Decade Switch (P5) is employed for the setting of the performance range of the vibration amplitude controller, whereas 0 means setting of hardware switch (inside ISC-VC) is active. Input 1->10 => Decade 0->9.

3.4 Troubleshooting[edit | edit source]

3.4.1 Profinet communication[edit | edit source]

  • Identification: The Brabender device number need to match the Profinet Node ID
e.g. btfeederh-0XX (XX = device number @ PROFINET IO system)
  • Setting on the scale, which can be done also via the touchpanel CONGRAV OP1T, have to match the HWCFG
