1 Application[edit | edit source]

This Thyristor controller is used at the MDO IR Heating at PET lines

2 Adjustments[edit | edit source]

2.1 Thyristor controller[edit | edit source]

First we need to adjust the DIP Switches and potentiometer.

  • Switch off the control voltage
  • Confirm that the 230V/440V power is off
  • Take off the front cover. There is a small clip which hold the cover!

  • Adjust the DIP switches according to this table
Switch Terminal Setting Description
S1 1 0
S1 2 1 … 1,2 operating mode (VAR-generalised phase control)
S1 3 1
S1 4 0
S1 5 0 … 3,4,5 control mode (U – control)
S1 6 0
S1 7 0
S1 8 0 … 6,7,8 setpoint input (0-10V)
S1 9 0
S1 10 1 … 9,10 analog output (0-10V not used)

  • Adjust Poti R201
Measure the Resistance at the Potentiometer Pin 2 and 3 and adjust it to 22kΩ

Poti R201
This are the default Poti Values, but check it again:
R202 = 31k
R203 = 31k
R204 = 30k
R205 = 20.5k
  • Install back the front cover and close the clip
  • Reconnect the 24V supply

2.2 Current switch[edit | edit source]

With this switch we control the current to be sure, the IR Heater is working. Because of the big range from 20 to 100% which we use, it is necessary to adjust this module to the lowest value (10%) to get always the input.

Check with the variable table in Simatic Manager every input of every module!

3 Function Test[edit | edit source]

Switch on the Power and make a function check with various setpoints between 20% and 80%. The current module should give us already the input with 20%.
