mcER-L42 is a rail mounted brake chopper module used together with T&R encoTrives.

Electrical regenerative braking in servo systems feeds the generated electricity back into the voltage intermediate circuit. If there are no other consumers (e.g. further amplifiers) using energy the voltage of the intermediate circuit can increase to over-voltage which can cause damage to electric circuit. In this case, a properly dimensioned, external over-voltage protection module("braking module") has to be included to avoid damages. In case of an over-voltage, these braking modules (e.g. miControl mcER-L40) connect a resistor to the intermediate circuit that converts electrical energy into heat energy. The amplifiers internal voltage monitoring can detect slow voltage increases and disable the motor. The braking modules can detect fast voltage increases and convert it into heat energy. Nevertheless very fast voltage increases can cause damage of the devices. Minor fluctuations of the supply voltage are common so it is important that the amplifier can withstand higher voltages than the maximum voltage the power supply can provide.

1 Electrical connection[edit | edit source]

Template:Notice bms The software might be wrong. The contact is NC and therefore we need in the Software not any NOT (inversion).

3 Dial switch adjustment[edit | edit source]

Set dials 10% higher than nominal DC voltage supply

  • 25.5VDC >> 28 VDC (it's mean: Z=2[20] and E=8[8])
  • 48V DC >> 54 VDC (it's mean: Z=5[50] and E=4[4]).

Switches are at the bottom of the Device. You don't see them from the front!
