1 Trouble Shooting[edit | edit source]

1.1 Where to find the serial numbers on liquid cooled converters[edit | edit source]

  • on the switch cabinet

  • On the module

1.2 Drive Status Off for more than 10 seconds[edit | edit source]

The drive is indicating the status Off until the DC-circuit is charged correctly when there is no Disable or Alarm. If the drive remains in status Off for more than 10 seconds it is likely that there are the following reasons.

  • The emergency loop was opened at terminal X120 7/8 but there was no emergency stop recognized by the PLC. Therefore there was no OutFstStp.

Remedy: press an related emergency push button and reset the emergency status

  • A motorized switch of the infeed (small drives have only one, large drives have multiple infeed switches) is not in position auto.

Remedy: set all motorized switches to position auto and press an related emergency push button and reset the emergency status

Normal sequence: OutFstStp is present all switches are indicating “CHARGED SPRING” status “0 OFF”. Fault condition will be reset. All switches will be energized and status will change from Off to Ready after the DC-circuit is fully charged the switches are indicating “DISCHARGED SPRING” status “I ON”

1.3 Communication NCDrive via network[edit | edit source]

You need to connect to the line network if you want to establish an online connection to a drive. It is not possible to connect to the service network. This indicates that a rule in the firewall is not correct. The communication should also work with service network.

1.4 No communication at bus system[edit | edit source]

check if the drive is responding on the specified IP address.

If the drive is responding on the specified IP but is not available on the bus system check the device name:

NCIPconfig: File:Vacon NCIpConfig Drive Name.png

Hardware configuration: File:Vacon HWConfig DriveName.png

Restart the drive unit (remove the control voltage) in order to take over a new device name. If you change the device name in the HW configuration you need to download the HW configuration.

1.5 No communication with PVSS[edit | edit source]

Check the motor type which is selected in the scl-code:

ExtMne.scl/ExtMne_Drive: If there is no Vacon Project Variable, it cannot communicate.

If all is correct and nothing help, just restart the unit and configure all again with the serial cable!

1.6 No ready signal[edit | edit source]

If you have a unit which has a parallel switched circuit (two times 400V or two times 690V infeed), the unit is delivered in two pieces. In order to split the unit, the DC-busbar and some control voltage connections are disconnected. During installation the connections should be established again. Specially the control voltage cables and the fiber optic cables are forgotten from time to time. You will not get a ready signal unless you establish this connection. For connection see also description above (star coupler board).

1.7 Drive Faults 25 after system software application download[edit | edit source]

after you downloaded system and application to the target, you probably get fault messages 25 immediately or after starting the drive. You can not use application later than

APGEW024V115.vcn

with old control units. You can determine the control unit version by colour of the plastic housing.

  • mint = old
  • grey = new

The board version can be distinguished by the serial number (service info):

File:Nxp version service info.JPG

You find a sticker with the serial number on the control board itself.

number starts with

  • 251 its a NXP1 Board
  • 561 its a NXP2 Board first generation
  • 661 its a NXP2 Board second generation (A/D converter changed, AF board supported)
  • 761 its a NXP3 Board (limited to max. 599 Hz output frequency) this is currently delivered version in November 2016

1.8 system load of the processor[edit | edit source]

you find only at the display P6.8.3.4 for diagnostics.

1.9 Parameters are not representated correctly in NCDrive[edit | edit source]

Most likely the application was generated, because it was not found.

  • close NCDrive
  • delete generated applications they might be here: C:\NCEngine\Applications\Generated
  • copy application to C:\NCEngine\Applications\Brueckner
  • reopen NCDrive
  • reconnect to drive, now because correct application is there you should get no messages

Double check if correct application is loaded, open the service info and look in the header for "Application:"

You should see something like: Brueckner (APGEW024_0_21_gen.vcn, APGEW024 0.21)

or higher numbers

1.10 No connection through service network[edit | edit source]

If you computer is on service network you can not connect to the drive (actual status Feb. 2018) but Remote Station can connect to the drive.

1.11 Maintenance Counter[edit | edit source]

The Maintenance Counter can just be set by P.2.7.41 & P.2.7.42 can just edited when the password "56144" is entered in P.2.7.40. Then the parameters are editable for 5 min.

1.12 F41 IGBT Overtemperature[edit | edit source]

During regular operation you might get F41. If the cooling circuit is ok, the fault might be caused by a voltage fluctuation in the supply side.

You might be able to avoid this fault by activating the "special undervoltage controller" in P2.4.24.1

  • If by default parameter has a value of 1 add 1024 => result is 1025
  • If value is > 1024 make a binary conversion of the value and check if Bit 10 is already activated

please give us feedback EEC and EEF/WOK if you make good experience by using this option. Up to now we do not have a proper verification.

Unfortunately there seems to be no proper text on this bit. If you open with F1 the description of parameter P2.4.24.1 it seems like bit 10 does not exist or has no function ...
