1 Commissioning

• Follow the path of each Profibus loop in the drawings.
• Set the Profibus address for each device in the loop according to the drawings and the Simatic Manager HW-config.
• Keep an eye on the Profibus plugs. In Public:Profibus Connection you can find pictures of how a plug should look like. Later on, bad connections can lead to Profibus faults which are hard to find.

2 Troubleshooting

• ET200S stations
  • The bus fault indication might be confusing if a module has an error.
  • If you change the address with the DIP switches, the new address will only become active after power off and on the station.
  • An address conflict is difficult to detect. But, get rid of the idea that some addresses are not working. The Profibus does not care about some special numbers, as long as they are unique.
  • Use also the flashing LEDs for diagnostic (in Manual Chapter 6.1.3 Diagnostics using LEDs)
