This instruction enables the user to configure the Liebert UPS
1 Configuration SNMP Network Adapter[edit | edit source]
1.1 Network Connection (TCP/IP)[edit | edit source]
- Establish a connection between the UPS and your Field PG with an Ethernet cable.
- Deactivate local Proxy (Internet option -> connections: deactivate proxy).
- Deactivate Firewall and security programs, like Symantec Endpoint Protection.
- Install, if not yet done, ManageUPS DCU.exe on your Field PG.
- Launch configuration tool ManageUPS DCU.
- Default user is "admin" with default password also "admin".
- Depending if there is an external battery cabinet or not you have to do some settings, as shown above.
- If there is no external battery cabinet, set UPS Battery Capacity Designator to "0" and confirm setting.
- If there is an external battery cabinet, close ManageUPS DCU.exe, connect UPS via Mini-USB cable to USB port of your Field PG and start Liebert GXT3 Configuration program
(Cable is delivered with UPS, Configuration Program can be found on Liebert GXT3 CD)
- Select number of Battery Cabinets to "1 external", apply settings
- Disconnect USB cable, close configuration tool and start ManageUPS DCU.exe again
- Login as user admin using default password admin
- Go to Administration > Network Settings and modify IP address.
- Enter IP Address Template:KomIp180 (IPC 3.9) / Template:KomIp72 (IPC 4.0)
- Enter Subnet Mask 255.255.255.0
- Enter Default gateway Template:KomIp190 (IPC 3.9) / Template:KomIp71 (IPC 4.0)
- Apply settings and reboot the network adapter via Utilities menu
- After reboot of the network adapter you can use Internet Explorer or ManageUPS DCU.exe to proceed the UPS configuration. Steps are the same, following procedure shows configuration using Internet Explorer

- Connect to [http://Template:KomIp180 http://Template:KomIp180] (IPC 3.9) / [http://Template:KomIp72 http://Template:KomIp72] (IPC 4.0)
- User Name: admin
- Password: admin

- Adjust Overload Threshold to 80% > Apply
- Battery Replacement Date mm/dd/yyyy (today!) > Apply
- UPS Name: Template:KomNamUps > Apply

- Cancel UPS Shutdown if Utility Power returns after execution of last group

2 Clientinstallation Server (RedHat/Suse 6.3 linux with "unattended DVD"[edit | edit source]
- Log on as root
- If it will be installed at Suse 6.3 enter following command (not standard!)
- ln -s /usr/lib/libncurses.so /usr/lib/libncurses.so.5
- (At RedHat this step does not apply)
- Mount DVD-Unattended with:
- mount /dev/cdrom /mnt
- cd /mnt/server/UPS_MASTERGUARD_FOR_RHEL_4.0
- cp rccmdinst.tar /tmp
- cd /tmp
- tar xfv rccmdinst.tar
- cd generex
- ./install
- Enter License_Key (SIERX3-584435) and confirm with Enter (or use real license key when present)
- Select Version of your Operating System: -> Enter
- Please choose a directory to install the files -> Enter
- Do you want to read information for RCCMD tool? n -> Enter
- Install RCCMD Modul for LINUX_X86 to /usr/ups/? y -> Enter
- Language for RCCMD Messages? english -> Enter
- Do you want to configure RCCMD now? y -> Enter
- Create rccmd.cfg? -> Enter
- RCCMD Network Options -> Enter
- Bind on interface: Template:KomIp1 -> OK
- Access control list -> ADD
- New Address: Template:KomIp180 -> SAVE
- Do you want to start rccmd-listener automatically on system boot? y -> Enter
- Do you want to enable massages via /usr/bin/wall? n -> Enter
- Do you want to enable logging of network massages to syslog? y -> Enter
- Do you want to enable graphical popup messages? n -> Enter
- Do you want to start rccmd-listener now? y -> Enter
- Leave the /mnt directory (cd /)
- Umount CD: (umount /mnt)
- Remove CD
3 Troubleshooting[edit | edit source]
3.1 Reset Password[edit | edit source]
In order to reset the password you have to log on at the console with following parameters:
- User Name: iforgot
- Password: MAC-Address of the UPS (in this form: 00:20:82:01:7B:85)
